St. John's Episcopal Hospital Ambulatory Care Center Acquires New ENT Equipment

MARCH 31, 2008 (Far Rockaway, NY) - The Ear, Nose and Throat clinic of the Ambulatory Care Center of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital has recently acquired a full complement of medical instruments with the recent acquisition of state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment for examination of the nose, sinus, throat and larynx (voice box). In addition, the ENT clinic has also installed a new microscope which allows for the detailed examination of complicated ear problems.

“The new microscope provides us with the right tool to conduct a highly detailed examination of a range of ear problems,” said Sheldon Genack, MD, Chief of the Sections of Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Genack is board-certified in both specialties.

Otolaryngologists are physicians trained in the medical and surgical management and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck. They are commonly referred to as ENT physicians.

Otolaryngology includes diagnosing and managing diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures of the neck and face. Otolaryngologists diagnose, treat, and manage specialty-specific disorders as well as many primary care problems in both children and adults.

The Ambulatory Care Center also offers a wide range of other medical specialties including arthritis, breast surgery, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, family practice, gastroenterology, geriatrics, hematology, infectious disease, neonatology, nephrology, adult and pediatric neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, pediatric surgery, podiatry, pulmonary, urology and vascular surgery.

To make an appointment in the Ambulatory Care Center at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, please call 718-869-7690. It offers convenient hours and most insurances are accepted.
