St. John's Episcopal Hospital Celebrates National Volunteers Week
St. John’s Episcopal Hospital honored 55 volunteers with a luncheon on Thursday, April 27, 2006, during National Volunteers Week. Barbara Morris, President of the Rotary Club of Rockaway, delivered the keynote speech. Volunteers serve in a range of Hospital departments, including Hemodialysis, Dietary, Nursing, Admitting, Employee Health, the Hospitality Desk and many others. In 2005, the volunteers who were honored that day worked 12,991 manhours. The volunteers range in age from 15 to more than 90 years old, and represent a cross section of society. Included among them are a retired dentist, a professor of literature, an aspiring pediatrician and a rabbi.
